Procedure
The
teacher identifies and selects appropriate media sites (newspaper, magazine,
TV, radio). These sights can then be
linked to an existing web page (such as http://www.ignatius.edu/modlang/)
or a teacher-created project web page using FrontPage Express (or nay
comparable HTML editor). If this option
is not available to the teacher, the web addresses (URL’s) can be listed on a
sheet to be distributed to the students.
The
students are then brought into the Computer Lab and shown how to access the
teacher web page or are shown how to enter URL’s into a web browser. The teacher then accesses a couple of model
sites to demonstrate how to navigate them.
Sites that utilize multimedia plug-ins such as RealVideo, StreamWorks,
or Adobe Acrobat Reader should be emphasized to show students how the
plug-ins work and, if necessary, how to download and install them.
