Procedure

After they have selected their topics, the students will begin writing the newspaper article.  This will serve both as the basis of their television script and culminating written activity (group newspaper).  The students will divide themselves into groups of three or four and plan and coordinate their newscasts.  Once the groups have been formed, the teacher will demonstrate using Système-D and its dictionary and grammar features (Version 2.0) and spell check and pronunciation (Version 3.0).

If necessary, the teacher will then demonstrate using Microsoft Word or Microsoft Works publication templates, cutting and pasting Système-D text into Word or Works (Version 2.0) or importing Système-D files into Word (Version 3.0), and saving files to a network drive.  If available, the teacher will demonstrate the multilingual features of Word 2000 (multilingual interface, Set Language, spell and grammar check).  In the time remaining, the students will finish researching their topic (if necessary) and begin writing their scripts and articles.
