Procedure
The student will be brought to the Computer Lab to
continue writing and editing their news show scripts and newspaper
articles. The students are reminded that
their television shows should not exceed five minutes (approximately one minute
per story) so their stories should be succinct and to the point.
Some time should also be devoted to rehearsing the show (even though the “dress rehearsal” will take place the following day- see Lesson 5). While the students have prepared scripts, they will not be allowed to use them in rehearsal or filming. Although the students will inevitably have to do some memorization, they will be expected to speak contemporaneously drawing from their research and their work on the newspaper articles. The brevity of the presentations should reinforce the need to be succinct and encourage the students to speak more naturally rather than from rote memorization.
