FRENCH III ORAL FINAL TOPICS

January 9, 2012

Listed below are the four possible topics for the Oral Final Exam on Monday, January 9, 2012.  On that date, the teacher will select the situation and which role each student will play.  Therefore, each student should be prepared to perform every role in all four of the situations.

A.   Retour de vacances.  You’re a French student who’s just returned from a vacation in the United States, where you went to improve your English.  Now you’re visiting your grandfather who wants to know all about what you did and saw while you were there.  He also wants to know how you plan to keep up your English now that you’re back in France.  Tell him everything.

B.   Le monde du travail.  You’re calling the office of an establishment for which you’d really like to do an internship.  First, you speak to the receptionist who puts you through to Monsieur Clermont, who is in charge of staffing.  He’s pleasant, but clearly busy. Now you must explain your reasons for wanting an internship and see if he can use you.

C.   Il était une fois.  Students will tell a story together: one student begins it and each student in turn adds a small section until the last student ends it. It should be a legend with traditional beginning and ending structures, as well as a moral at the end.

D.   Amours et amitié. You’re talking to a family member on the phone.  Ask that person about himself and then about two other people in your family: how they are, what’s happened to them lately.  The person you’re talking with needs to tell you himself and then about the other two.
